Procedural briefing on Private Members' Bills
On Thursday 29 June, the ballot for Commons Private Members' Bills for the 2017-18 session will take place in the House of Commons. Private Members' Bills (PMBs) are public bills introduced by MPs and Lords who are not government ministers. As with other public bills, their purpose is to change the law as it applies to the general population however, only a minority become law, and are instead used to draw publicity to an issue.
Ahead of the ballot, Dods Monitoring has produced a procedural briefing on PMBs to guide you through the process.
