Briefing on Health Service Medical Supplies (Costs) Bill
This briefing takes a look at the Government’s Health Service Medical Supplies (Costs) Bill which recently received its second reading in the House of Commons. The Bill seeks to address the current imbalance between the two regulatory schemes used to price the sale of NHS branded medicines and will make a number of amendments to the National Health Service Act 2006. There are three main elements to the Bill: the statutory medicines pricing scheme, the high-priced unbranded medicines and information powers. The Bill will proceed to Public Bill committee stage on 8 November 2016.
